Our kitchen rennovation began with a 25 year old 10x11 dilapidated kitchen. The new kitchen required the removal of the 3 walls of the old kitchen, including busting intothe old dining room (which was previously moved to the old formal living room). My husband and I renovated every single room in the house as DIY over the last 6 years, except for the kitchen, which we've contracted out. The result is a large kitchen with 4 new windows and a new door, which leads to a large ground level deck, and connectsto our new sunroom. It also includes a new 5 x 5 walk-in pantry, a butler’s pantry and bar area leading to the dining room, new bookshelves and a baker’s pantry. In addition to the kitchen, we added an 18 x 18 sunroom, to get some light in our lives, since our living room has a northern orientation. We began this project on January 12th of this year.

This is designed to be a 2 cook kitchen, thus the double prep areas. My husband and I cook together all the time, and wanted separate work areas, so we had room to move. Bruce is tall, so his counters have been elevated to 40". The remaining counters in the kitchen are set at 37.5".
