Here's the link to my album with pics of my completed kitchen. The cabinets are DuraSupreme Designer in cherry with a light stain, inset doors and exposed hinges. The honed granite is Verde Fontaine. Part of our period-look remodel included restoring the bungalow breakfast nook and uncovering a long hidden original casement window in the back porch area.

Marita - fabulous. Absolutely Stunning! I love the cabinets and the door style. What color yellow did you use?? And the kitties are cute as can be! |

Boopadaboo: Thanks! The wall color is Benjamin Moore's "Barley." |

I LOVE!!! the kitchen nook. Harkens me back to my grandmother's. I have loved the look since I was a child. I wish I had the room to have one in my house - I would add one on. |

That breakfast nook is to die for -- even DD admired it with me from our little bungalow. We also admired the kitties! So much inspiration here. Can't wait for my own cozy kitchen, hope I come up with a cozy seat since I certainly don't have room for a nook. Your nook is perfect, can't keep my eyes off it. Enjoy! |

I love your kitchen. The cabinets are gorgeous and the breakfast nook reminds me of my childhood home. I live in an old house and hope when we remodel that I can fit a breakfast nook into the butlers pantry area. Beautiful job!! |

Wow! I love your kitchen. You did a great job making everything functional but retro, too. I bet you could get your kitchen in American Bungalow magazine - you should contact them! |

Wow, I really love your kitchen! It's so warm and inviting, especially that nook. I love the honed granite with the glow of the cabinets. Great job! |
RE: Marita's Bungalow/Mission Kitchen with Honed Granite
I should add that the honed granite pictures of my kitchen don't do justice to the real color. The real color is a matte green/gray--very mellow and warm. The color on my computer, by contrast, seems far less dark green than the granite actually is. For you who are interested in honed granite, Verde Fontaine is beautiful honed. 3/4s of a year and counting, it looks as perfect as the day it was installed--no staining at all (and I'm a messy cook). |

Marita, was the table top in the nook original or is that a current add on? If so what kind of wood is it please? |
RE: Marita's Bungalow/Mission Kitchen with Honed Granite
I had the nook restored but it probably looks similar to the 1923 original. A carpenter constructed the table legs and the built-in benches from poplar, and they are painted. The top is a gorgeous thick slab of cherry, stained to match the cabinets (although in reality it has now darkened to a shade somewhat darker than the cabinets). The top screws onto the base and the whole table can be pulled out for cleaning in the nook. Hope this helps! |

Another lover of the nook here. It looks like a really good episode on HGTV. Great job. You must love being in there. Is the rest of your bungalow that cool? |

I adore the look of your kitchen, and, like teeboxer, would really like to see pictures of the rest of the house. Thanks! |
RE: Marita's Bungalow/Mission Kitchen with Honed Granite
Thanks!! My home is a typical urban Midwest bungalow--pretty humble looking on the putside but great hardwood and built-ins on the inside. While I don't yet have pictures to post online, my home is one of those featured in the Twin Cities chapter in the recent book by Diane Maddox, "Bungalow Nation." It features bungalows in 5 cities with lots of great pictures. |

Everything about your kitchen is lovely and fits so well with the style of your home. You've done a beautiful restoration with modern conveniences. Love the back porch. |
RE: Marita's Bungalow/Mission Kitchen with Honed Granite
Beautiful! What stain did you use on your DuraSupreme cabinets? I ordered DuraSupreme cherry cabinets (inset, Craftsman panel with beaded frame) in Harvest stain, and am wondering if it is the same as yours! |
RE: Marita's Bungalow/Mission Kitchen with Honed Granite
I do believe I'm in love! Your kitchen couldn't be more perfect (and right up my alley)! |
RE: Marita's Bungalow/Mission Kitchen with Honed Granite
Mlovecats, I have the "Salem" stain on my DuraSupreme cabinets. It is the lightest stain, I think. The cabinets came looking very very light but have darkened considerably into the warm reddish light brown you see in the pictures. The door style is "Homestead." |

Hello, We have the Bungalow Nation. On what page is your house featured? You have done a super job with your kitchen. We are building a Craftsman style home. I posted a picture of my kitchen with new maraina soapstone counters. I will post more when more progress is made. We also have put in a nook which I will take of picture of when it is done. |

Diane, My home is on pages 142-43. In the shot of the living room you can see a "glimpse" of the pre-remodel kitchen. |
