Details:

We switched the locations of our former family room and kitchen. Where the fireplace used to be is now where my kitchen sink is!

Countertop: I like the honed surface very much. I was very tempted to get soapstone, but in the end, decided there were too many issues for me. The honed surface seems to be wearing very well, after about three months of use. One of my contractors couldn't believe how I wanted this "scratched up counter"! If you look closely, the honing does give the impression of little scratches, but the overall impression is of a smooth, satin finish.

CE,
Love your kitchen... it looks lovely! I have a couple questions are we are in the planning phase...
1) did you vent this gas cooktop? If so how (I don't see a telescope or hood)
2) I have been thinking about doing a double row of cabinets. I love that you did it but not on every one... great idea. How many shelves do you have in the bottom and how many up top? Is it really one cabinet box with 2 doors?

Thanks for your help!

Love your kitchen. Could you possibly provide some more information about the trim on your windows and doors. I'm about to replace the casings on our doors/windows and yours is exactly what we'd like to do. What is the thickness of the side and top boards? Is there a small crown or is it a straight board at the top of each window/door. Many thanks for your help!

How do you like your honed countertops? Is it hard to keep clean? Did you seal it?
